A high-impact 4D lightshow to bring the Airbus Smarter Skies vision to life.
Smarter Skies – a vision, not only of what we will fly, but how we will fly in the future. Airbus examined what could be done, beyond aircraft design, to alleviate the congestion, environmental, noise and cost implications of more people, on more flights.
The Smarter Skies vision consists of five concepts which could be implemented across all the stages of an aircraft’s operation to reduce waste in the system (waste in time, waste in fuel, reduction of CO2). Good Relations created a compelling visual demonstration of how the five concepts might work, a series of images of each concept and created an abstract, high-impact 4D lightshow that brought the concepts to life.
Achieving 634 pieces of coverage across 59 countries
Smarter Skies was launched with a targeted stakeholder and media event in London at the top of the Gherkin Tower, with spectacular views of incoming aircraft across the London skyline – the event was attended by 45+ top-tier global and trade media, including senior executives from IATA, ATAG, SESAR and Sustainable Aviation.
Working with specialist designers, we created a 4D mapped lightshow, projected onto the iconic Humboldt Box, ahead of ILA Berlin (airshow), dominating the city’s skyline. The lightshow was then projected onto Berlin’s Humboldt-Box to mark the launch of ILA, engaging consumers and stakeholders and was filmed and posted online at Airbus.com, Airbus YouTube channel and the Airbus Facebook and Twitter feed.
Overall, we received 634 pieces of coverage across 59 countries. Over 680,000 saw the Facebook Berlin light show video post, gaining over 9,000 new Facebook fans and the lightshow viral video currently has over 150,000 YouTube views.
