Good Relations is working with Mcvitie’s to establish Flipz as the number one alternative, unconventional youth snack brand for the gaming community. Our mission is to position Flipz at the heart of popular gaming culture to drive consideration and ultimately attract new, younger shoppers into the Flipz world.
We devised a strategy to deliver innovative solutions that improve gamers’ snacking experience whilst flipping & defying conventions. Our Flipz Up Your Game campaign is a disruptive programme of surprising, rewarding and playful brand activations.
To launch the new Flipz Cookies & Cream flavour in January, we created a cultural moment for the brand, crowning the last Sunday of January ‘Consol(e)ing Sunday’; one of the busiest gaming days of the year as wintery weather, lockdown restrictions and the financial limitations of January compounded to drive gamers to seek comfort and ‘consol(e)ation’ in their gaming consoles.
Enter Flipz Consol(e)-ing Sunday. We teamed up with robotic delivery service Starship to allow gamers to order an exclusive delivery via the Starship app. For just £5, they received a contactless delivery of gaming-goodies including blue light gaming glasses, gaming vouchers, some extra refreshments and, of course, brand new Flipz Cookies & Cream.
We created a bank of photo and video assets to launch the campaign through earned, owned and paid media, hosting a photo and film shoot on location in one of the biggest gaming and tech towns in the UK; Milton Keynes.
The campaign launched across editorial and social media just 48 hours in advance of the Starship service going live, whilst the Good Relations team simultaneously delivered a limited edition run of Consol(e)ing Sunday samples, product and media materials to national and regional consumer and gaming media to drive further awareness.
The result? The Consol(e)ing Sunday packages sold out in just 25 minutes and video content promoting the offer reached over 200,000 social media users.
Good Relations secured a total of 36 pieces of press coverage across national, regional, consumer, and gaming media with a combined reach of 27M over the launch period.
